Sanofi –Aventis manufactured Sculptra is an injectable ploy-L-lactic acid that is both biodegradable and biocompatible. As well as giving instant results it stimulates the body to produce it’s own collagen. The treatment itself may take up to thirty minutes to complete and Sculptra treatments are typically repeated every few weeks for a few months in order to achieve the desired results. The with effects lasting up to two years depending on a patient's individual skin condition and response to treatment.

First introduced into Europe in 2000 as New-Fill, the US FDA approved Sculptra in August 2004 for the restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss in people with HIV. Clinical research has found that Sculptra can significantly improve the overall facial appearance by safely and effectively restoring volume and shape to those areas affected by lipoatrophy. Sculptra should be used in the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer for increasing volume of depressed areas, particularly to correct depressions in the temples, under eyes, cheeks, nasiolabial folds, marionette lines and chin.

Because Sculptra is derived from fruit acids the need for allergy testing is minimal. Possible side effects include bleeding, bruising, redness, and lumps at injection site. Buy Sculptra treatment should be avoided if there is inflammation or infection at injection site. The use of blood thinners or Aspirin prior to treatment may cause bleeding at injection sight. It is not determined if it will affect an unborn baby or passed through breast milk.
